2005-01-20 Awkward Saw
Richard has some really nice things to say in his 'Awkward Saw LOG': "There is nothing more cool or hip than being a band from Norway. That.s one big thing AqPop have going for them. The other advantage they.ve got in the indie world is that they play really odd, strange pop songs. Now I don.t mean to get ahead of myself but, that is one heck of a one-two punch. I can safely bet your girlfriend.s younger cousin discovered this band all on his own and he loves them."

2005-01-19 5/6 in Panorama and 10/12 in Fakejazz
Some really fine reviews lately. Another 5/6. Thanks! American FakeJazz give the record 10/12 while the spanish Feedback Zine finish their review with "Have it - que hace pensar en que la cuestión es tener o no tener. AQPOP tienen lo que hay que tener." which translated to norwegian would be something like "Have it - som for oss til å tenke på at man enten har det eller så har man det ikke. AQPOP har det som skal til.". Thanks to Seid's Jürg for the translation and of course thanks to the Feedback Zine, Panorama and FakeJazz!

2005-01-15 Review in norwegian magazine SPOT

2005-04-03 pt. 1: upcoming release pt. 2: Karl has left AqPop
Not that many gigs at the moment.. AqPop is spending a lot of time in the practise space at Lilleby in Trondheim at the moment trying out new ideas and writing songs. There are some rumours about an upcoming EP.

Due to some musical differences, but more importantly prioritizing family and working career, Karl has left AqPop. He's still friends with the rest of the guys , and will continue to write songs with Thor Jørgen for possible inclusion on upcoming AqPop releases.

Karl has long been known to prefer the songwriting in preference to practising and playing live. Karl hasn't been practising with the band since december. He just recently wrote two songs with Jørn Ålekjær of Loch Ness Mouse. No plan of release yet.

2005-04-10 We're talking april and the summer is around the corner. New reviews: A&A (USA) and Georgy Girl (Spain)

  • 20.november. Great review at Musiq.no. "Jeg liker de korte låtene best, eksempelvis Relate That Someting (representerer 60-tallet tydeligst) og Confused, samt åpningskuttet Have It (en behersket liten herlig sak). Caught by the Feeling er todelt og det er blant annet her Jade Hasselgård introduserer seg selv på en glimrende måte vokalmessig." Nice.
  • 19.november: Pictures from the Knaus-show added to the pictures page. Thanks to Fotogjengen (FG)

18.nov: The song Relate That Something from Beautifully Smart has been in NRK Petre Urørt's hotlist for ten weeks now. This means that it's being played every second night on Petre. Cool.

Maybe it will find it way to your screen one day.
  • 5.nov: Radio 60 has been recommended by NRK Urørt in their series "Urørt gir deg helgefølelsen", go here "Trønders psykedelia-surf-pop- rock som garantert setter stemninga på freddan!" - NRK Urørt.

  • 25.october: Recieved reviews in Monster and MUTE. Both positive but focusing more on the potential/promising more than the excellence. Both paper magazines and cannot be found on the web. MUTE: "Have It og Caught By This Feeling er to av høydepunktene. Her viser AqPop at de behersker låtskriverkunsten."
  • 24.october: AqPop once again take a short trip to Oslo to play live. This time at Blue Monk and once again it's with the great The Kulta Beats. 19 and 20.november. Free entry. See you there!
  • 13.ocotber: The cool Popopdrops mailorder comments on the album in their latest news update. Not exactly a review, but one should listen to Popopdrops so here it is: "Etter et håndfull med meget pene singler som Aquarium Poppers var det forventniger til debut-albumet, men her går de langt ut over hva vi turde å håpe på. Psykedelisk og delvis folkbasert pop med de helt rette ingrediensene. Perfekte låter, den orgellyden, gitar med snert, meget bra vokal fra både Thor Jørgen og Jade. Første del er mest pop, mens andre del også glir inn i noe som nærmer seg wierd folk, men ikke wierdere enn at folk med hang til det noe utglidende hos Dipsomaniacs kjenner seg hjemme. Nok en triumf fra det psykedeliske popmiljøet i Trondheim." Thanks Bjørn!
  • 12.october: Another review, this time by SKUM. Seems a lot of people either like the pop-side OR (first half) the weirder last half. This guy is definately into the latter. "Albumets beste låt Syranid er en påminnelse om hvor steinbra Motorpsycho var på sitt mest monstrøse midt på forrige tiår. Låtens oppbyggelige stil, som til slutt ender i kaskader med støy, er rett og slett et hyggelig gjensyn med 90-tallet".
  • 8.october: The album is now also available at Popopdrops in Tromsø (mailorder).
  • 6.october: We're on NRK Urørt's hotlist. Really good review at Rockeweb. Thanks!
  • 5.october: Another review, this one in english. A great one. "Guided by Voices and the Byrds come to mind and at their very best this is in fact right up there with Norwegian Dipsomaniacs. take on the style." Visit Broken Face - An introspective glance into the world of peripheral sounds.
  • 29.september: Had a really nice time playing at Mono in Oslo. Kind a short pop set (45 min). Also, the Kulta Beats were stunning. The debut album is now available also at Tiger in Oslo (along with Big Dipper). PS! Andreas is still soar in his mouth after eating a spicey kebab. Send him some fresh mints
  • 27.september: Today we're heading for Oslo and Mono. The album has been reviewed by the Oslo newspaper Dagsavisen. Nice review. "Aqpop har bra låter, sans for humor, gode basslinjer, og nok variasjon i uttrykket til ikke å stivne i ett spor. De veksler mellom lange instrumentalpartier og korte, kontante poplåter, og også vekslingen mellom mannlig og kvinnelig vokal er vellykket." go here
  • 24.september: The album is now available at Platekompaniet in Trondheim. And three songs from the album were played on yesterdays Harald Are Lund program at Petre. Also chit-chat with Jade and Thor Jørgen in studio.
  • 22.september: Very nice interview with Karl Morten and Thor Jørgen at Pstereo.no (norwegian). Go here. Also: Thor Jørgen and Jade will visit Harald Are Lunds show at NRK (national radio) tomorrow thursday 23/9.
  • 21.september: Nice review in Adresseavisa. "Solid låtskriverkunst i spennende arrangement krydret med kreative krumspring litt utenfor den sedvanlige popnormen, har resultert i en vital og helhetlig plate".."Åpningssporet «Have It» er rett og slett en liten perle". 4/6
  • 20.september: Releaseparty went well. Both band and audience seemed to have a good time. All(!) songs on BS were played, along with Origin, Quarter Century of Listening and Care Of Cell 44 (Zombies). There's an interview with Thor Jørgen in the region newspaper 'Adresseavisa'. Nice review at Groove.no. "Jeg trives best tidlig på plata når 5 av de 6 første sangene varer i mindre enn 2:38 - garasjepop bør være rask og effektiv."..", hyggelige pschuzz-greier dette her!" 4/7
